• Who is Saint Margaret Mary?

Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647–1690) was a nun from Paray-le-Monial. She is known for the revelations of the Sacred Heart that she received in 1675. Her message speaks of mercy, reparation and the love of Christ. She therefore occupies an important place in Christian spirituality, particularly in devotion to the Sacred Heart.

She was canonised in 1920. Several popes have emphasised the importance of her message: the immensity of God's love revealed in a human heart and offered to all.

These apparitions marked the history of devotion to the Sacred Heart. They also led Saint Margaret Mary to establish the practice of the Holy Hour, a time of prayer every Thursday evening, in union with the Passion of Christ.
